If you're trying Korean food for the first time, I recommend starting with bulgogi or bibimbap. When I've gone to eat Korean food with foreign friends, these two dishes almost never fail. If you like spicy food, you can also try kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae, or jeyuk bokkeum. Personally, I recommend jeyuk bokkeum with rice. It's a dish we eat a lot in Korea. If you're going with someone else or in a group, you can also order samgyeopsal or galbi. Try wrapping the meat in a lettuce leaf with garlic and ssamjang. And if they have haemul pajeon or japchae, they can order one to share and try various things. The truth is that Korean restaurants abroad can vary quite a bit in terms of the menu and taste, so it's also a good idea to look at the menu and choose a dish that seems to be a specialty of the restaurant. If you show me a photo of the menu, I can tell you which ones I would choose.
