PWA installation guide

Install HiKorea on your phone home screen or PC desktop and open it quickly like a regular app.

Before you begin

What is a PWA?

PWA stands for Progressive Web App. It is a technology that lets you install a website on your phone or PC and use it like an app. You can install it directly from a supported browser without searching for and downloading a separate app from an app store.

After installation, a HiKorea icon appears on your home screen or desktop. Select the icon to open HiKorea quickly in a separate window without entering the web address again. It is the same service as the website, so you use the same posts, comments, and account information.

For Chrome

  1. 1Open hikorea.blog in Chrome.
  2. 2Open the More menu in the upper-right corner.
  3. 3Select Install app or Add to Home screen.
  4. 4Check the displayed app name and web address.
  5. 5Select Install or Add.
  6. 6Open HiKorea from the icon on your home screen.

iPhone / iPad

For Safari

  1. 1Open hikorea.blog in Safari.
  2. 2Select the Share button.
  3. 3Scroll up in the Share menu to see more actions.
  4. 4Select Add to Home Screen.
  5. 5Check the displayed name and select Add in the upper-right corner.
  6. 6Open HiKorea from the icon on your home screen.

PC

For Chrome and Edge

  1. 1Open hikorea.blog in Chrome or Edge.
  2. 2Select the installation icon on the right side of the address bar.
  3. 3If there is no icon, select Install HiKorea or Install app from the browser menu.
  4. 4Check the site address in the confirmation window and select Install.
  5. 5Open HiKorea from your desktop or Start menu after installation.

Before installation

  • We recommend Chrome on Android, Safari on iPhone and iPad, and Chrome or Edge on PC.
  • The installation menu may not appear in an in-app browser such as the one inside KakaoTalk or Instagram.
  • If you are using an in-app browser, use its menu to open the page in Chrome or Safari.
  • Use a regular browser window because installation may be restricted in private or incognito mode.
  • Install only from the official HiKorea website at hikorea.blog.
  • Notifications are optional and can be turned off at any time in your device or browser settings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install it again from an app store?
No. Follow the instructions for your device on this page and install it directly from the browser.
Do I need to create a new account after installation?
No. Use the same community account you use on the website. You may need to sign in again depending on your device and security settings.
Do I need to reinstall the app when HiKorea is updated?
No. Website updates are applied to the installed PWA automatically. If new content does not appear immediately, close the app completely and open it again.
I cannot find the installation button or menu.
HiKorea may already be installed, or you may be using an in-app browser, private mode, or an older browser. Try again in a regular window of a recommended browser.
How do I remove it?
On a phone, press and hold the HiKorea icon and select Remove app or Delete. On a PC, remove it from the menu in the installed HiKorea window or from the browser app management page.
